Character:
The farm guy told us that Tom never raced- Well, this is not true!
He raced right into our hearts!
Come and meet this special boy we welcomed into our group. There is a story behind Tom, as it is with so many of our greys. Saint Ken ( everybody who knows our Ken will agree, he is a greyhound Saint) fell in love with Tom when he first met him on the farm in Live Oak, FL, last winter. When he came back from a "Freedom run" for 9 lucky greyhounds, he asked me whether we could take this young boy in whenever we have room in our group-He, Ken, would love to foster him- I agreed. BUT- as it always is in greyhound rescue, there were always other, needier greyhounds in the last year who had to find shelter first- but finally, on December 23, it was Tom's time. Unknowingly to us, the farm person had brought Tom down to the local track- the plan was that Cary would hold him until we have room. When I told Ken this, he did not like leaving Tom down there, especially since Tom never had left the farm, never raced, never was in a racing enviroment- so Ken went down and picked him up- on Tom's 3rd. birthday! (We cannot imagine a better birthday present)
Tom is a love and sweetheart! He is happy, very affectionate, loves to explore the new life he started on his birthday, loves to lay out in the sunshine in the fenced in yard and have the sun warm his body. He must have a fenced in yard, he just enjoys the outdoors too much to be a leash dog! He discovered stuffies and is now performing some "autopsies" to see why they squeek and what is inside a stuffy's body- We wonder whether he wants to become a CSI? If you feel the cold this winter in Fl, come and adopt him because he will keep you warm, leaning on your legs, being near you and being your shadow. We are so happy that we finally got Tom Boy down here and can find him his perfect home.

Character:
Griffy is such a love! She is gorgeous with her big "Cleopatra eyes" that her foster dad calls her "Maybelline". She is quiet and calm, happy to be retired and is still marveling about her luck to celebrate the holidays in a foster home with people who love her dearly. She loves stuffies and plays a lot with them, she comes up for cuddles and is a snuggle bunny. Her highlight of the day is when she can communicate with the dog in the mirror-she gets a kick out of this ! She lets her foster mom brush her teeth and clean her ears, all the grooming stuff is just enjoyable for her. She gets along beautifully with Sandy, the foster parents smaller dog and loves other greyhound, but we feel she should be okay as only dog as well.
She is a beauty, inside out, and a lover sponge- quiet, reserved at first, just perfect!
We hope she will celebrate Christmas in her own home, with her own family, but we love to have her around anyway.

Oh, our long lost Gamer arrived-save and sound, so full of love,so full of life! We waited for 1 1/2 years to finally welcome this handsome young man into our circle and every minute was worth while waiting for him!
He is a love! He is fun, loving, intelligent, very inquistive and eager to learn and what is there to know about retirement and living in the real world- He is a hoarder though and might need TLC's Intervention -he hoards everything he can get hold of, such as stuffies, socks, shoes, in his crate- Does not chew anything up but piles it up in his crate, his treasure chest- When the foster dad, Ken, is in the computer room, busy with e-mails and other stufff, he peeks around the corner, then, when he feels the coast is clear, he goes into the bedroom and bathroom and steals more stuff-He is a trip!
Anybody who is lucky enough to adopt this special boy, will have a life filled with lots of love and lots of laughter. We envy this person already!

Character:
Well, well, well-If you would have been at Pagefield on July 4th you would have seen Beyonce fly in on a private plane-
Sadly, there is a not so good reason for this young lady to join our group- She, (who is the true litter sister of our Sonny Crockett) broke her leg! She too, needed orthopedic surgery to fix her broken bone - She is a gorgeous, breathtakingly beautiful, very tall and long legged black beauty with big, soulful eyes- We are lucky to have her and could save her, we think she is as beautiful as her famous name sake!
Aug/Sept. 2011:
UPDATE: Bee has come full circle-her leg is totally healed, she does not even limp -she is like brandnew- And her name should not be Beyonce, no, she should be called Samantha, the famous witch on TV with the wiggly nose-because Bee's nose is twiching just like Samantha's. She is a character- full of fun, full of energy, she will dive, head first into the toy basket, and will take each and every stuffy out that the house can hold-and then it is playtime- Yippee-she is running around the entire house, throwing the stuffies in the air, entertaining herself and her foster parents, I am sure, Circ De Soleil is calling soon for a performance- She is so sweet! At night, when her foster mom finally can relax on the couch after a day's work, she comes over and licks her face, licks her arms and her legs- as to say:"Thank you, relax,I am here to give you some quality time now.'
If you want a dog that will make you laugh, adopt Beyonce,-if you want a comic relief dog, get Beyonce-if you want a very affectionate dog that will kiss you every day, adopt Beyonce!

Character:
Here is a true story: I flew into FL from Germany to take my RN boards in 1989. At night, alone in my motel room, I watched TV and found the tv series:"Miami Vice" and was hooked- I was determined to pass these boards because I wanted to live near Det. Sonny Crockett (played by Don Johnson)-
Fast forward 22 years: Not only did I finally meet Sonny Crockett,no, I was kissed by him! Sometimes the wait pays off!!!!!!!
All you ladies out there, better hold on to your hearts- our newest heart throb, Sonny Crockett, is here to charm his way into your hearts. He is so young, only 2 1/2 and his career was ended on 5/26, when he broke is Talus bone - We found out by co incidence and decided to make room for him in our group- Meanwhile he had his orthopedic surgery and is recovering very well from the ordeal-the leg does not seem to bother him at all and he is enjoying retirement and the good life to the fullest- He is a playboy, meaning that he loves playing with stuffies and will offer them to his foster mom, Theresa (he is very kind and willing to share) he, even on light duty due to his injury, is a typical cop, inspecting all the grocery bags his foster parents bring in and he is confiscating bread, rolls and bagels. He definitely leans to high carb food, but than again, don't cops eat donuts? We are all in love with this special boy, he is a dream of a greyhound, he is a lover sponge through and through, totally catsafe, totally fine with other greyhounds and we envy the person or family who will share the future with him- Who ever adopts Sonny MUST stay in contact with us and come to our picnics, we have to see him, at least once in a while..... and get kissed, again and again ......
